New page

'''The Art of Setmaking'''

Greetings!
The art of making sets, this is something that is valued in a mage today. You must know what a set is, which one to do and how to make one. There are some basics on making sets, which I would like to discuss here.

When making a set, the monsters around you will probably not want to cooperate with you, they don't want to die! They will attack the poet, rogue or warrior instead of staying in place. How do you remedy that?

First thing is, you will need the following spells to make sets: Confusion, any zap type spell, paralyze, remove paralysis and blind. Try to put the monster in the set area by using paralyze. If you miss your mark, move yourself over next to where it should be so that the monster will be lead to the right spot. If the monster is attacking someone other than you, confuse it then zap it once to get its attention. Put it in place and paralyze then blind in that order. If you blind first, you cannot remove the spell and will have to wait the full 60 seconds until the spell is over if you have the monster in the wrong spot.

After you have it blinded/paralyzed, move on to the next creature until the set is complete. Try to unparalyze then paralyze the monster again after you blind it, and make sure the blind is still there. You will have to constantly blind, para and unpara the monsters in order to keep them in place along with keeping the other monsters from killing the poet or anyone else.

Now that you know how to make sets, you should know how to make your sets more efficient. Monsters that are facing the attacker will take normal damage. Monsters with their sides facing the attacker will take 1.5 times more damage and those with their backs to the attacker take 2 times more damage. Obevously you want the back of the monster or at least the side facing the rogue or warrior. Get the attention of the monster and walk next to it, and make sure you keep it blinded only. It will face you and attack you, then paralyze it again. This should add to the damage of the group, and thus the experiance for everyone.

The mage is the one in control of the monsters, which is the hardest part! You need to be able to cast fast and think on your feet. When you practice this, you will find that it is easier to read about it than actually do it. Goodluck and I hope that this post helps you better understand the art of making sets!

Thank you,
