Roleplay
The Druids were the Magi or philosopher-magicians of the early Celtic civilization. Several meanings are offered for the word Druid including: "a servant of truth" "all knowing or wise man" "an oak" or "equal in honor." Generally a Druid is considered one with gnosis or spiritual. Seasonal celebrations and festivals were adopted and adapted to the new Christianized cultures of Europe -- such as Christmas at the winter solstice and the Druid festival of Samhain or All Hallows Sabbath -- which we now call Halloween. More over Druid beliefs and customs such as kissing under the mistletoe have also been passed down to the present day. So, hence we say that although Christmas in Nexus is not related to ancient Korea, Druids are not so distant from it.

Is a Druid simply a 'Holyman' and one who loves Nature? A Druid is viewed by many people slightly different.

A Druid is neither Good, nor evil. We are neutral, as Nature itself is neutral. However druids can play a darker role or a brighter one, without taking their neutrality aside.

Druids hold the Trees above all other flora as a deity. Druids have an obligation to protect these trees, as well as wild plants, crops, and to a lesser extent, their human followers and animals.

If a Druid observes any creature destroying the flora or fauna, the Druid would unlikely risk his/her life to prevent the destruction. Rather, it is probable that the Druid would seek revenge at a later date, as opportunity presents itself.

A Druid is able to identify all plants, animals, and have the ability to purify water. Druids are able to pass through a forest or shrubbed area unscathed very easily. Druids are immune to the charms from woodland animals. A Druid is able to change his/her form to match any fauna ((we hope to make it possible here in nexus as well))

Druids believe in the eternal nature of the Soul and see a living spirit in all forms of creation. There is an ancient saying attributed to the Druids "Spirit sleeps in the mineral, breathes in the vegetable, dreams in the animal and wakes in man." Druids hold that souls could be contacted after death and that souls reincarnate. The universe is the Druid's living bible written directly by the hand of God.

Druids dedicate much of their time observing, studying everything that surrounds them. Many times when Kingdoms rage in war the Druids are their to see the first to die and the last to survive, we rarely ever participate in the wars ourselves. We come to battles not to see death, we come to observe it many times hidden as creatures of the wild. Wisdom is the greatest asset one can have in life.

Druids are the interpreters of the gods, the judges and teachers astronomers and seers, as well as physicians and healers. Rites and rituals are generally held outdoors typically in an oak grove or around a stone circle.

Druids are friends to all life, may it be man, beast, or plant life. Druids are herbalists, they understand about plants and healing potions. They view the past, the present and the future, either by casting runes or performing flower readings. Druids understand the elements and assist their aspirants in seeing the divine spirit within themselves and indeed within all things.

A Druid's powers can only be limited to their knowledge of Nature and inspiration through the Awen. To reach beyond these
boundaries and to experiment with simpler or sometimes more potent things, you would need a strong background in herbal lore. Herbalism is a careful and mystic craft. It requires great knowledge, patience, and practice before it ever becomes useful.

The knowledge of herbalism is something you must first become accustomed with. There is no point foraging a salve or potion when you have no idea what it is or isn't capable of. I suggest studying all types of flora around and becoming attuned with their magical along with physical properties.

Unlike Alchemy, Herbalism requires patience beyond expected. In Alchemy you can brew a potion in matters of hours. Herbalism requires a bit more of time. Cerridwen's potion to forge inspiration of Awen took years to focus enough inspiration to forge the great legend it was. In the study of this craft being patient with how certain herbs react with each other is imperative to be successful. Combined with enough practice, it becomes a key tool in the study of Druidry.

As what anything needs to improve, practice is always required in herbalism. Every leaf, bit of sap, and grain is different than the other. Experience will teach you how to measure and apply the knowledge you've gained. Once you receive a feel for it, and trust me, you know when you will, you can began your true study of the craft. And perfect it to finally become useful.

Once you get a fair grasp of it, Herbalism can be one of the most useful aspects in a Druids life. Once you begin your more
stronger part of the practice, see what combinations you can bring together that may come to your aid when your own instincts and magick fail you.

The Legend
Diancecht, the god of medicine and healing, was intensely jealous of Miach, his son, for Miach had become more exalted then he for his great ability to heal. Diancecht, burning with envy, struck Miach once over the head with a sword, but Miach quickly recovered and healed himself. Diancecht struck Miach a second time, this time with greater force, but Miach healed himself again. The third blow was too much for Miach and wrought his death.

When Diancecht buried his son, three hundred sixty-five herbs sprang forth from the earth above Miach's body -- one herb offering cure for any maladies within each nerve of the body. Airmid, Miach's sister, gathered every herb from the earth and arranged them upon her cloak in the shape of a human body, denoting the properties and uses of each herb... but with one swift kick, Diancecht sent the array of herbs flying and the remnants were strewn, misplaced all about the ground.

The rash action of an envious father destroyed the powerful knowledge of the cure for every illness, thus the chance of immortality was lost forever.

However, in turn, whenever we pluck an herb from the earth, we are holding a bit of the Green Man, and when we apply these sacred herbs to someone who is ill, we are re-uniting the herbs with the god, so he and the entire world are again whole and balanced.

Druids know that there are certain times in which certain types of herbs should be collected. Tree leaves should be collected before Midsummer... Leaves and flowers are supposed to be gathered on dry days when flowers first begin to open and are always dried in the shade, so their colors don't fade. Roots are generally gathered in very early spring or in late fall after the plant has begun to die back. And tree barks are best in the soft inner layer (cambium) of the bark between the sapwood and the dead outer bark...

A Druid does not learn everything alone; from time to time he must consult old women, shamans, gypsies, magicians, wayfarers, and all manner of peasant folk and random people, and learn from them... Do not be arrogant when in fact you are helpless, and do not regard yourself as a master at the outset; for no one can achieve mastery without labor. Also, learn from those who are more experienced than you, for who can pretend to know everything? Who can be everywhere and know where all things lie? Therefore travel and explore everything, and whatever comes your way, take it without scorn and do not be ashamed to do so... For nature is so excellent in its gifts that... it better benefit a man to know one herb in the meadow, but to know it thoroughly, than to see the whole meadow without knowing what grows on it.

*Yellow amber - Increases comprehension, group communication and dynamics

Potions
The art of creating potions has been passed down from generations to generations in the Druid family. We have finally decided to share our secrets with you. As you may know, flowers and herbs all have special properties and aroma's that create different effects. However if the herb is prepared incorrectly, the effects could be lethal and dangerous.

Picking your poison, as I may call it, is just a phrase referring to what outcome you wish to have. Below is a small list of herbs and their effects to the body and mind.

Daffodil: Hope, Chivalry</br>
Dawn Tulip: Clear Vision, Divination</br>
Golden Sunset: Courage, Strength, Justice, Respect</br>
Greater Tulip: Protection</br>
Heaven's Bell: Wisdom, Ancestral</br>
Midnight's Reign: Truth</br>
Old Poppy: Sleep, Peace, Serenity, Dreams</br>
Pink Mugunghwa: Inner Strength and Inspiration</br>
Rose: Love, Strength, Balance</br>
Dusk Blossom: Death, Change, Closure</br>
Fallen Star: Life, Remembrance</br>
Yuri's Love: Purification, Sacred</br>

Each of these herbs when prepared correctly gives the herbalist
the option to use the herbal effects to their advantage. The safest and most accurate of preparation methods is alchemy. To create a potion using these herbs, specific materials must be gathered and used.

First a base must be formed to support the mixing and
creation of a fire. A fire must then be created within the base and brought to appropriate temperatures. With the ashes and coals of the fire a potion bottle that either contains water or alcohol of correct amounts must be brought to correct temperatures before adding the herb. Once the temperature is correct, the herb must be processed -- chopping, dicing, slicing, shredding, or even using the seeds and roots of the herb will do. Once added to the mixture, the juice of a mountainous root must be juiced in. For the finale, a substance that the lobsters seem to collect must be grinned into a fine dust to enhance the effect of the potion.

Unfortunately, potions do not store well for ages at a time, therefore the potion must be used within the next two moons for the maximum effect to take place. Be warned, the potions are created for what you intend to do. Think out what you intend to use the potion on, and if any other "unexpected" outcomes may arise.

There are many other ways to prepare herbs such as sniffing
aromas, cooking seeds, or even placing them close to the
heart. This is only one of the many many methods that herbs
may be used.

The Quest
We would be happy to assist you towards obtaining Herbalism knowledgement. However, We must be certain first that you currently have the requirements needed to start the trials. ((please display your legend in nexus website so that we may see you do in fact have the requirements))

<B>Requirements:</b>

*Must have mastered the stars
*Must have Aided the Druids in the Mystic Garden, to show herbs are familiar to you
*Must be aligned with an element, to show you have studied the elements
*Must have no criminal or red brands (except Leviathan), to show you have honor
*Must possess certain qualities, such as Patience, Observation skills, respectful manners and a thirst for further knowledge. These are essential qualities for a Herbalist. This is not a process to be rushed - it will take time. Please be prepared for this.

To begin this quest, you must send a polite letter to one of the Druid Mystics (Guides).

((It must be in RP format. If it is not, your request will be denied )). Should you have further questions about this, please contact one of the Guides. Essentially we are looking for a Role-play story which tells us something of yourself and why you desire to learn about Herbalism.

In order to show that you deserve the mark of Herbalist, there are a number of trials that must be completed. Each trial represents a quality that a Druid Herbalist possess and that we feel those who bear our mark also ought to possess. The trials are as follows:

<B>*thriail dar admhala - Knowledge </b></br>
<B>*thriail dar duthracht - Dedication </b></br>
<B>*thriail dar taisleach - Creation </b></br>

Each trial must be taken seriously and given careful consideration. If the Guides feel that little effort has been put into these trials, then you may find yourself denied our mark. Please bear this in mind as you work through the trials.

Old Poppy: Sleep, Peace, Serenity, Dreams</br>
Pink Mugunghwa: Inner Strength and Inspiration</br>
Rose: Love, Strength, Balance</br>
Dusk Blossom: Death, Change, Closure.
Fallen Star: Life, Remembrance.
Yuri's Love: Purification, Sacred.

So you seek to consult nature of times ahead? Do you have a doubt
lingering in your mind that you wish resolved? Do you wish for
knowledge of the unseen future? Do not come forth if you fear the
truth, for that is all we can provide. The floura and fauna whispers the
future, gently.

There are two mediums for the Druid Ovates to translate your reading from they to you:

-=-=Flower Readings=-=-
The voices of many flowers overlap, their individual knowledge
noteable, their communal knowledge prophetic. A Druid Ovate will
summon the flowers of your choice to whisper and giggle your secrets
away. But no need to fear, you would not recognize these secrets if
you heard them.
Consult the meanings and uses of each flower, and choose wisely
to invoke the most appropriate message.

-=-=Ogham Rune Readings=-=-
The wise, long-lived presence of the Ogham Trees give their advice
to the receiver of this reading. One of these trees will summon itself
present to the Druid Ovate, and listen carefully, for all great advice
is made from experience. The willow reaching its branches down to
the river is meant for you to hear, not for it to drink.
The message of this reading may be difficult for you to decipher, at
first, although once it is done the message proves just as useful as
the giggling of the flowers.

If you seek guidance from one of these forces, from nature, choose the medium and the Druid Ovates will translate the message, and listen as only they can do. The truth will be spoken, and nothing will be hidden. It is truly, rightfully yours. That is your warning, and your guarantee.

The Druid Path provides this as a service to the community, not as a right. Please be respectful during the reading or you may find yourself denied.

Please contact a Druid Ovate for your reading.
Thank you, and Blessed be.

Handfasting is a condition under which two people who believe they wish to get married "test the waters". Handfasting is in a sense a temporary marriage, performed as an engagement ceremony here within the Kingdom of Nexus. The handfasted couple are expected to be committed to each other and be aware of their partner's concerns and feelings. Most often the handfasted couple live together while they are handfasted, and in every possible sense behave as a married couple.

Within the Druidic path, a handfasting ritual can be performed by a *Druid Cleric*. It begins, of course, with the prospective couple. They decide they wish to be permanently committed and want to find out if they would be compatible in a marriage situation. At this point, they go to a Druid Cleric.

The couple must each name three things about the other person that they think are wonderful. They must also name three things about the other person that they might not find perfect. If both of these conditions are not met, the Druid Cleric will not handfast the couple until such time as these conditions can be met. This is because the Druid Cleric wishes to make sure that the couple knows enough about their partner that they are aware of what they are committing.

If you and your future bride or husband would like to commit to one another by participating in a traditional Druid handfasting ceremony, please find, and contact a Druid Cleric.
History
We lived for countless generations in the Great Sands. We were forced to explore all the angles and think all permutations through. We could not waste. It was a matter of survival. By no other means could one live in such inhospitable places. Nonetheless the desert was our home. We learned to live there. And in general, no one else wanted it, which was to our advantage. We were naturally interested in learning the way things were done in other lands. The function of government, the advancement of craft, the development of skill and knowledge are things we have studied in the surrounding lands. But always, we returned to our home, feeling secure in it.

In the not so distant past, ogres and men invaded our spaces and enslaved those that were not quick enough to react. We fought, but in vein. Normally, we would be able to defend ourselves. We know the terrain better then any. We adapt quickly to new tactics and our martial arts are advanced. But the dark veiled figure utilized strange magic. It clouded our minds causing confusion and fear. Fortunately, this seemed to be a proximal effect. Once we retreated everyone seemed unharmed for the most part.

In the wake of this upheaval gypsies have come to inhabit our lands in the desert. The gypsies were able to seal us out of areas with magic that is not known to us. We were unable to return to centuries old habitats. Tribes of ogres left behind also remain in large numbers roaming the lands. Their numbers are seemingly endless. Drive away one bunch and another immediately takes its place. In addition, large serpents seem to have been disturbed by activities initiated by “the veiled one” and the ones that followed. They are seemingly immortal and fierce. Some have been captured in crystal, but far more roam the opened desert and swim beneath the ocean of sand. Sadly, our home is no longer ours. We were forced to migrate.

Not wanting to overwhelm the sometimes suspicious lands to our east, we split up into small groups, each venturing to different sovereignties. History has shown that an influx of an out-group can lead to prejudice and hatred. We were afraid that this was a possibility given our knowledge of the human history and the wars we have seen in these regions. This would not be helpful for any of inhabitants of these lands or for the Silla. We dispersed like the sands of the desert from which we came. It was a matter of survival.

We are without a home. We are alive, but diffuse and we wish to dwell together. We share a common enemy with the people of Nagnang. Though we are somewhat different people, we understand and relate to things about your people. Like the The Forsaken, we know the feeling of having your home turned upside down. We respect the manner in which Pegasus reveres art. Artistic pursuits are creative and tend to run counter to functional-fixedness we work to undo. We seek a home. We seek association. We swear allegiance to your royalty.

Koguryo is a large nation in the geographic center of the Kingdom of the Winds. The nation was founded by King Tongmyong Wang, who was succeeded by his son Yuri(myong). The Capitol of Koguryo is the City of Kugnae, a large, sprawling city. However, as compared to the large commercial nation of Buya, the population of Kugnae and of Koguryo as a whole is relatively low.

Since the early 20s, King Yuri had delegated most of his authority to his second son, Prince Mu-hyul. The Prince dealt with all day to day policy, while the King appeared only for ceremonial duties. On the eve of his 83rd year of reign, however, the King died of natural causes, and Mu-hyul was crowned as King of Koguryo. Much of the actual management of Koguryo's affairs is actually in the hands of its Royal Ministry, led by Prime Minister Gilley. The Royal Ministry sees to keeping the citizens of Koguryo, and all of the Kingdom of the Winds, well satisfied.

Five subpaths reside within Koguryian borders. The Chongun, Diviner, Merchant, Monk, and Spy subpaths maintain significant autonomy, while still pledging fealty and giving some small tribute to the sovereignty. Clans are also given some autonomy, but are at the beck and call of the Royalty when the time comes.

Koguryo is a member of the Tri-Kingdom Alliance, along with the Principality of Nagnang and Empire of Buya. It also maintains a tenuous peace with the Ogre Kingdom within its lands, though many Ogres and humans battle in the caves of Hamgyong Nam-Do, and humans are rarely if ever allowed into the hidden ogre city of Ja-gook.
Koguryo is a large and diverse land. Containing the temperate forest of Southern Koguryo as well as the marshy swamps of Hamgyong Nam-Do, and the mountainous passes of Guol, Koguryo has something for everyone. There are also three residential villages where citizens of Koguryo may lease plots and homes for a small fee, as well as engage in many leisurely rural activities, from rabbit races, to mazes, to games of G'oh. Koguryo is also home to the History Museum, and the Cemetery.

Archons are often called "Assistant Game Masters" in other games, but recently many larger game publishers have been shifting away from using "volunteer workers" to handle these administrative tasks due to complaints from customers who accuse many players of mis-using their positions to harrass other players. However, NexusTK still uses volunteer players to perform their Assistant GM duties.

Historically, Archons were selected from among the Angel ranks, but since Angels were removed from the game, they are selected from the general populace by the Archon Primogen. Before they are given all of the powers and duties of an Archon, an Archon candidate is given a Pawn character and assigned menial tasks.
